Marching season is now over and now comes the beginning of winter: the season for winter guard. During the week before thanksgiving break, those who were interested in joining winter guard stayed after school so our equipment choreographer could teach us the try out routine. Now, there are only a few days left before try outs and I'm excited to see who will make the team. This year, our show is going to be a very dark dramatic show. The song chosen, which I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share, is a meaningful love song so Im looking forward to portraying the artist's feeling through dance and facial expressions. Another thing I'm looking forward to is tossing. While in color guard, the team didn't really do much tossing, except the rifle line (rifle line is what we call the members who do rifle) so I can't wait to toss during the show. In my opinion, winter guard is much more fun. We perform in a gym and yes, the audience is sometimes literally 5 feet away. That, to me, is what makes me love winter guard. I love having a facial expression and performing while making eye contact with the audience. Sometimes, you can even cause tears and watch the audience melt from your performance. Overall, I really want to make the team and experience a new winter guard season as well as meeting new people in guard, or from other guards in other schools. Try outs are Thursday!!
